"Yesteryear In Cheshire"

Cheshire Watch Company

The Cheshire Watch Company opened in 1883. George Capewell was the president, and E.R. Brown and D.A. Bucks were his partners. Many Cheshire watches were sold, but the company faced numerous problems with its watchmaking machinery and was forced to close in 1891. The building eventually became Seabury Hall for the Cheshire Academy and was transformed into the Watch Factory Shoppes in 1979.
